BACKSLIDER (Poem)

BACKSLIDER

By Farah Lawal Harris, 2024

I don’t wanna worship with my oppressors—

prey praying

hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder

with one eye open.

“Love thy neighbor.”

But I love my peace.

God is still working on me.
