BEHOLD WHAT I LEAVE BEHIND (Poem)

BEHOLD WHAT I LEAVE BEHIND

By Farah Lawal Harris, 2025

By the time my cocoa-colored compassionate soul clashes

with God’s marshmallow skies,

chocolate-covered steam

will rise and shine

sparkling shards of sunlight

to highlight every little lesson I’ve learned.

Good news gospel truth will spew

from my works,

these words, this aggressive

weed-covered clay earth turned gorgeous garden.

And don’t get me started

about my seed

who is sprouting so much more swimmingly

than I.
