EVERYBODY WANT LOVE (Poem)

Hey, y’all. Happy Easter.

I didn’t follow the prompt for Day 9 of National Poetry Writing Month (to write a love sonnet). Here’s the poem I decided to write instead:

EVERYBODY WANT LOVE

By Farah Lawal Harris, © 2023

everybody want love but don’t give love

but love too much to receive love

but loves the feeling of being in love,

but not the work required to keep love

but shows love through praying

but says “Love” just playin’

but never got it

neva gonna get it

wouldn’t know it if it introduced itself by name.

Love, show thyself today!
