GRASP WISELY (Poem)

Grasp Wisely

By Farah Lawal Harris, 2024

You don't have to correct the past.

It's already forgiven.

Take pleasure in the fact that

you survived,

that what meant to kill you failed

miserably.

You are a breathing testimony!

There is ease in

turning away from the pain.

Hope tall as you can grow.

Observe the world around you.

Find the courage to

share your story

and remain a present witness to theirs.

Spread your fingers apart.

This represents the length, breadth and depth

you actually control.

Grasp wisely.
